CCIE Data Center Hardware Cost Estimate
That picture about describes the cost of the new CCIE Data Center Hardware. Keep in mind, that this is list price – and my best uneducated guess at what we will see on the lab in the terms of hardware and quantity. Regardless, I think I will nickname this new certification – The Million Dollar CCIE!

Quick note – I have not included the costs of the 2511 nor the costs of the JBOD. To be honest, the 2511 is like $200 on eBay and a Xyratex RS-1600 with 146GB SCSI disk will run you about $500 on eBay as well.
Think you’ve got a hiccup on the MDS9222i’s. (I haven’t reviewed CCIE DC in depth yet.) However, if it parallels CCIE Storage on what’s covered for MDS, you also may need M9200EXT1AK9 IP Extension Services License and M9200FIC1K9 mainframe/FICON license. Definitely needs DCNM-SAN-M92-K9 management server, which is required and requires a separate dedicated system to run. (Virtualized is fine of course. 😉

With a hardware list like this you have to think for the near future the only CCIE DC’s are going to either be Cisco employees or people who work for a HUGE VAR and can afford to invest over a million in gear that isn’t being payed for by a customer (directly at least, not counting the added value of a CCIE DC).
Man i love working in a Data Center with all this gear already!!
I have been waiting for the DC track for a long time …I will refer to it as the CCIE Cloud. The track will be funded mostly by companies and VAR due to the equipment hight cost.
I appreciate your cost estimate but I anticipate a lower amount at around 300K ( used + discounted Hardware).
