Plan an NX-OS upgrade on a Nexus 7000 or 7700 as an in-service upgrade (ISSU) or a cold boot (reload) upgrade. The path finder follows Cisco's own Nexus 7000 ISSU and Cold Boot Support Matrix, including its reload points at each major release. It also checks your supervisor and line cards against every release on the path, so a SUP1 or an M1 card that a release no longer supports is called out before you start. It adds the caveats from Cisco's upgrade guide and shows lifecycle dates for each release, including the 8.4 train that Cisco recommends. Paste show version and show module to fill in your release and modules.
Planning aid only. Always validate your path with Cisco TAC, the release notes for each step, and Cisco's own matrix. Everything runs in your browser; nothing you paste is sent anywhere.
Running a Nexus 9000 or 3000? This tool covers the Nexus 7000 and 7700 only. The Nexus 9000 and 3000 have their own Cisco matrix, so use the Cisco NX-OS Upgrade Path tool instead.

Pick your series, supervisor and line cards so the tool can check every release on the path against your hardware. Leave it on “Not sure” to see the path Cisco's matrix gives for the release pair alone.
Release paths and hardware lists follow Cisco's Nexus 7000 ISSU and Cold Boot Support Matrix and the path logic in its page code. The recommended release comes from Cisco's recommended-releases page for the Nexus 7000, the guidelines from the Cisco Nexus 7000 NX-OS Software Upgrade and Downgrade Guide for 8.x, and the lifecycle dates from Cisco's end-of-sale and end-of-life notices for the Nexus 7000 and 7700. Two quirks in Cisco's data are handled and noted: a duplicate 8.4(12) record in the cold-boot data, and hop lists that name releases that do not exist.
